There are those who emailed me for direction on how to get to Nami Island from Gapyeong Station.

In one simple advice: By taxi
The easiest and most fast. Just take the taxi lining up in front of Gapyeong station to Nami Island (as per image above).
As of May 2009, the cost is about 4,000 won per ride of about 2 km and about 5 minutes. Read more below for other cheaper options.
Other cheaper options are:
- Local bus
- On foot – 20 minutes
- Gapyeong City Tour bus
There are two local buses going to Nami Island jetty from Gapyeong station. They are number 33-36 or 33-5. The cost is 1,250 won per ride with T-Money card.
Just wait at the bus stop across the road where the taxi lined up as per image above.
The bus will drop you off as per image above. If you decide to take the local bus back to Gapyeong station, then wait at the same spot but across the road where there is a physical bus stop as per image above. These will be the same spots if you take the Gapyeong tour bus instead.
But WAIT!! You have to walk about two minutes to the actual jetty or ticket counter where you can buy the ferry ticket to Nami Island.
Walk towards the Zip line tower as in the image above and you will reach the ticket counter to Nami Island as in the image below.
On foot – about 20 to 25 minutes
I have done it before in autumn purely because the traffic was so so bad. Like every Korean would want to visit Nami Island during autumn. *sigh* I know the island is breathtaking in autumn. We could do nothing about it though other than being patient.
There were hardly taxis around. They were stuck in the traffic and might as well we walked to the station which was more fast than fuming in the taxi while hearing the taxi driver ranting. 😀
And the fee is of course is FREE. 🙂
I suggest that you have KAKAO map installed in your smart phone as a guide if you choose this option.
Gapyeong City Tour Bus
Personally, I prefer not to travel with Gapyeong City Tour Bus to Nami Island. It is actually a shuttle bus that circulates between these areas:
- Nami Island
- Petite France
- Morning Calm Arboretum
- Edelweiss Swiss Theme Park
More info is here (in Korean though).
Why I don’t like this option?
This is because the journey from Seoul to Nami Island will take you about 2 hours and a half in total – give and take (if you lost your way, going to the restroom between metro transits, waiting time for metro, taxi, bus etc. )
You definitely will spend about three hours minimum in Nami Island and yet again the journey back to Seoul will take about 2 hours and a half.
Practically spending a full day here guys.
Gapyeong City Tour bus is worth it you plan your day really well and starts crazily early from Seoul meaning you go off from Seoul with the first available subway – at 5.30 a.m.
The Tour bus ticket will set you off at 6,000 won for a one-day trip shuttle bus. With this ticket you can drop-on drop-off as you like for a day BUT…the areas are not as near as you think!!
If you really want to stretch your time, 3 places are the maximum. More than that is over killing yourself.
2 places are more enjoyable. I have done between Nami Island to Petite France and I had wished that I only focus myself at one place.
But I know, you have come this far to visit Korea and you want to milk it for all the worth you can get from your trip.
If you still insist, you can get the ticket at the information counter once you drop off at Gapyeong Station as per image above.
Ok then, hope this post on how to get to Nami Island from Gapyeong Station helps!
